It's Not All About You! Creating Content, Knowing What to Post, and When to Pivot!

🛑 "I don't know what to post."

🛑 "I need help with content creation."

🛑 "People aren't seeing my posts!"

These are the 3 most common complaints we see from small biz owners trying to get traction on social media... and it all comes back to the same issue...

The content is all about them instead of serving their ideal clients!

So instead of asking yourself: "What should I post today?" Ask "What does my ideal client need to see today to know that I can serve them?"

In social media marketing, most people get this wrong. They make their social media all about themselves rather than their target market. This is a huge mistake because...

It’s not about you, it’s about them!

First, know that your audience doesn't visit a social network to be sold to, instead they visit social platforms for entertainment and community. Followers are often annoyed by the constant sell sell sell that is happening on these networks. This causes them to scroll right by your posts which is training the algorithm to understand that they do not want to see your content.

Takeaway: A follower is not always interested in how great your product is, they are interested in what’s in it for them.

If you want to be successful in social media marketing, you need to focus on your target market and give them what they want. This means creating valuable content that is relevant to them and providing a positive user experience. It also means being responsive to their comments and questions.

Social media is all about building relationships. With content creation, you are casting a net to bring followers into your circle to let them get to know, like, and trust you. Focus on providing value and engaging with them in order to build trust and credibility. When you do this, you will be well on your way to creating a successful social media marketing strategy.

When you’re creating content for social media, always think about what your target market would want to see. What are their interests? What are their concerns? What are they looking for online?

Once you have a good understanding of your target market, you can start creating content that appeals to them. This could be anything from blog posts and articles, to videos and infographics.

Remember, the key to social media marketing is creating content that your target market will want to see and share. So make sure you focus on their needs rather than your own.

5 ways to make your content about them instead of you:

1. Find out what they’re interested in.

2. Tailor your content to their needs.

3. Research the latest trends and topics in your niche.

4. Use social media listening tools to track what they’re talking about.

5. Make sure your tone and approach are relevant to them.

The more they see and interact with your content the more they will see future content. Social media marketing is a "long game" so be prepared to wow.

Remember people become followers, then fans, then customers! It's a process and when done correctly can make all the difference in your business!
