What is "Engagement Baiting" and Why it's Killing Your Engagement!

What is "Engagement Baiting" and Why it's Killing Your Engagement!

"Engagement baiting"... ever heard of it?

If you haven't heard of it, our bet is you've done it before. "Like, Comment, & Share this post." "Comment below " "Tag 3 people who need to see this". All of these are considered engagement baiting and are huge "no-nos" for social media algorithms.

Learn more about Engagement Baiting, how to avoid it, and what you can say instead by watching the LIVE session!

This week's tip will help you get some awesome engagement!

Try finishing your posts with a question instead.

These are all good for catching attention and getting interaction. It’s hard to keep scrolling when you were just asked a question.

Here are some ideas:

  • Do you agree?
  • Please tell me I'm not the only one! Right?
  • What is your biggest struggle with [what you just referenced in your post]?
  • Would you have done the same thing?

BE CAREFUL about asking for comments directly because (believe it or not), the algorithm sees this as "engagement baiting" and will actually show it to fewer people if you ask for comments and likes directly. Don't be afraid to get creative!

Of course, our done-for-you monthly content solution, Your Social Plan will help you skyrocket your engagement all while creating an easy-to-follow system, but asking a question at the end of every post is a great place to start!
